Another Ombre for your viewing pleasure. Honestly it looks like all I do is ombre all day! Everyone is loving the ombre look and it’s so fun to adjust to your clients needs and wants. Alice was an example of washed out blonde hair. She brought in a picture of Lauren Conrad. We both loved the rich brown and the rich golden ends. Since her hair was already so blonde we just did her base darker and then added some lowlights. At the end I glossed her ends with a rich golden gloss. She added bangs at the end just to spice it up! Doesn’t she look like young Goldie Hawn?
It’s Fall which means all those blondes and lighter browns usually like to richen up their hair! Going darker and richer. Key words chocolate brown, chestnut brown, dark golden brown, and auburn. When consulting with clients I always suggest they bring photos or find one in a magazine they like. You always have to determine if they dislike red or gold or cool tones. It’s about matching the eye color and skin color to achieve the perfect Autumn color!
This client came to me with orange hair as you can see. She went to two other people before me to get it fixed so as you can imagine she was broke and nervous for anyone to touch it! Our overall goal was to get rid of the orange and make her ends as blonde as possible while keeping the integrity of her hair. We ended up tipping and lightening every hair on her head and then putting a darker base on the roots. After the first round of color we decided to make the base even darker and further down. I think the overall results are pretty dead on to the picture she picked! Another successful ombre!
Ooooolala ombre! My client was sick of being so blonde! I know usually it’s the other way around, not blonde enough! Anyways so we matched her base and pulled it through for lowlights and feathered the base getting lower towards the back to create a softer look. I feel with making the base darker it tends to make the blonde even brighter. What do you think?
This client was a corrective color. She used to be a bleach and tone which is where you bleach your roots and then tone it. You have to be careful not to overlap because that will cause the hair to break. She went to a new stylist and they decided to do a base bump and highlights. The thing with base bumps on dark hair is they pull very orange. You have to do a full 30-45 base so it can lift and all the color pigments can deposit leaving you with lightened nonbrassy hair! Anyways she came in and hated the base bump and highlights. She wanted to go back to a bleach and tone. I had to go through and highlight the orange band leaving out the already highlighted pieces and focusing on the orange. After that was done I shampooed blow-dried and then went through and did a bleach and tone. The overall came out really even some of her old highlights grabbed the ash toner but better ash than orange! A lot of work but I love a challenge! And the client loved her hair too!
Here’s one of my clients who naturally has a very dark base about a level 3 and the goal was to lighten it without it turning orange/brassy. It’s all about lifting and lightening and achieving a color that works with their skin tone. I forgot to take a before but here are two after photos. The process calles for lots of highlights and tips and a base to bring her level 3 to an 8 without making it orange! I swear as soon as the sun comes out everyone wants to be blonde!
Copper time. Maureen came in with roots and faded ends. We went through and brightened her up! Copper and red heads are my favorite!!!
Welcome to the magical world of Ombre color! Basically you put all this work in to make it look like you have roots! haha This is ideal for the girl that doesn’t want to be a slave to her hair but wants something that pops. If your colorist can match your natural base, this color requires very little to no maintenance. Lexi came in with damaged ends and chunky highlights. We went through and added fine highlights and tipped out her ends with a non ammonia lightener to really make her ends solid and bright. After wards we went through and painted her base over the highlights and finished with a gloss to really make it glisten.
